Safety & Operation

As with all riding lawn mowers, the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor is a powerful machine that should be operated with care and respect. A miss judgment or careless action can result in an accident in a split second. The Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor is no different than any other riding lawn mower.

Operators are encouraged to read the manual carefully and pay attention to all safe operating instructions. Operators should consider wearing safety boots with steel toes to protect the feet in case they are touched by the lawn mower blades. Never walk up to an operating lawn mower and place your feet against the housing. Your feet could accidentally slip under the deck and you could lose a few toes.

If you need to make any adjustments to the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor while cutting the lawn or any other activity, always shut the engine off first to avoid any possibility of accidents.

Before operating the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor each day, check the engine oil level, check the fuel level and top up as needed prior to starting the days activity. Also check all parts of the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor for any loose bolts or shields to avoid future problems. Make repairs immediately to avoid small problems becoming big problems later on.

At the end of each day clean off the top of the deck and the underside of the deck using the deck wash kit provided as part of the standard features of the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor. It is a good idea to keep the deck clean from fresh grass. Allowed to rot on the deck or on the underside will gradually cause the deck to deteriorate. At the very least it will dry out and fall off in clumps leaving an unsightly mess on your lawn or driveway somewhere. No one wants to clean this up.

Maintenance & Repairs

Maintenance of the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor should be conducted in accordance with the instructions in the manual. Engine oil should be changed after the recommended number of hours, blades should be sharpened on a regular basis to ensure proper cutting of the lawn and not tearing of the grass. Depending on use you may want to change the oil more often, however the engine oil on the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor should be changed at least once per year.

Most people can complete basic repairs on the Bolens N79GG Lawn Tractor. All you need to do is consult the manual and if you still d not understand what needs to be done, talk to a mechanic. Most will be happy to give you pointers as long as you purchase the parts needed for the job from them. As a fall back, if you cannot fix the problem yourself, you have established a relationship with a small engine mechanic who knows you and will do a good job for you. This is an invaluable benefit to getting to know your local small engine mechanic.

Description of the Toro LX425

At the time of preparing this review of the Toro LX425 riding lawn mower, the MSRP price was $1699. This does not include local taxes or any fees for delivery charges. In addition it does not appear that you can order this riding lawn mower online. Toro does offer various other products for sale and purchase online.

The Toro LX425 riding lawn mower offers automatic transmissions using an automatic CVT or hyrdo static transmission. Cruise control is standard and allows you to drive the Toro LX425 riding lawn mower just like you would drive your car with continuously varying your speed controlled by pressure on the gasfoot pedal.

The engines include cast iron cylinder sleeve and an hour meter to remind you when to perform important maintenance services.

Consumers can also choose between 42 inch and 50 inch cutting decks. Both include deck wash out ports to make cleaning the underside of the mowing deck easy. This feature is available on the Toro LX425 riding lawn mower, however may not be available on other models so if you are comparing several models this is one item to confirm.

The Toro LX425 riding lawn mower also comes with optional mulching system, a bagger system and an aerator. Consumers should consider these options carefully depending on the type of lawn they have and disposal of grass clippings. Bagging your grass clippings is a great idea, however if disposal is a problem, then you may want to consider the mulching system.

Online Reviews

Toro does not offer online reviews of their products on their web site. We did find various other non Toro web sites that provided various comments both positive and negative about the product. We could not define any particular positive or negative comments that we would like to include in this review. Suffice to say, the Toro LX425 riding lawn mower is most likely just like all of the other riding lawn mowers. They are well built , have been around for sometime, so most of the kinks and problems have been worked out of these products.

Still, they will have the standard problems that any piece of equipment will have during long term operation. Most consumers can perform simple repairs and also perform straightforward maintenance. Follow the guidelines in the manual and never work on the Toro LX425 riding lawn mower while it is running to avoid serious accidents.

Safety & Maintenance

The Toro LX425 riding lawn mower comes with an hour meter to remind you when to perform important maintenance services. This can be a really valuable instrument. The manual will advise you regarding how often oil changes, lubrication, spark plug changes etc should be changed. With an hour meter that captures how long the engine has been running, consumers can easily keep track of when they need to perform these regular maintenance procedures. Each time you change the oil for example, note the meter reading in your manual so you can refer to it and be reminded of when to change the oil again. Same thing with spark plugs and lubrication. Most engines should have the oil changed at a minimum of once per year, and more often depending how long your engine has been running.

Always make sure the engine is turned off and the key removed so that the engine cannot accidentally start potentially causing a serious accident. Blades should also be sharpened on a regular basis to ensure a nice clean cut to your grass. Sharp blades will do a better job of cutting grass and it is healthier for your grass as well. A sharp blade will cut the grass, while a dull blade will tear the grass blade leaving it jagged and susceptible to disease.

Most dealers will provide repair and maintenance services, as well as parts that the do it your self home mechanic may need. Also local small engine mechanics can also provide maintenance and repair services if you are unwilling to do some of this work your self. While the Toro LX425 riding lawn mower is under warranty, you probably want to have your maintenance and repairs completed by the dealer. However once the warranty period is over, always comparison shop for parts as well as services.

Toro also offers and online FAQ support section on their web site. This information is continuously updated, however at the time of writing the site provided information about starting problems, finding manuals, engine problems and grass cutting issues. If you have any problems with your Toro LX425 riding lawn mower, you may want to review this section prior to calling the dealer or taking your Toro LX425 riding lawn mower into the dealer for maintenance.
